I think his limitation should be removed, so you can teleport upon your very will, rather than the split second before death.

This will make obstacles such as the bigger sawblades easier to avoid, and Meat Ninja being worth more for what he is (100% completion reward).  Also, he's banned from the leaderboards, so what harm will this do?  (Considering his window of opportunity for teleporting is way too small).

This would also add more strategy to how Meat Ninja is used.

Thoughts?

Agreed, or at least make the window to teleport larger.

That is what I thought it would be when I first unlocked him, but it is pretty clever to hide a slightly broken mechanic. Regardless on it being clever, I would agree with a change because he doesn't count towards leaderboards anyways.

This too can work.

Either they should make the mechanic more broken or they should let him be usable on the leaderboards.  The mechanic as it is takes a lot of skill to use correctly, so I don't see why they don't reward people for using him right.  He's not like Steve where he openly breaks some levels without any skill requirement.

Because he would then obsolete Meat Boy.

Try 4-9 or 4-9X -- He breaks those levels good.

I'd still like to see him on the leaderboards officially--he's really fun once you can work him properly.

Very fair point.

I guess I'd like some character-specific leaderboards by level, then.  As far as I know the PC version doesn't have one, and that'd be a solid addition that would make Meat Ninja seem more worthwhile, because frankly, I don't really have any desire to play him right now since I've already 100%'d the game without him.

Agree with OP - atm he's just a poor man's meat boy.... no real reward whatsoever for getting all 100 bandages

It's not so much that he's a poor man's Meat Boy as much as he is a faster Meat Boy with a precision-timed skill with slightly better speed and no need for the run button to be held down.

I believe that if one grants him the ability to teleport upon will (with an aftercast delay), it would be more strategic as to when you would have to use his teleport ability in order to save yourself and try to make it precise upon trying to dodge the given obstacle in the first place.

It would be slightly easier to master, but it would make Meat Ninja so much more fun to use.

Disagree with OP. The ability is unique and good the way it is.

Balance-wise, he should be leaderboard-enabled. More broken characters than he are allowed.

There is something to be said about obsoleting Meat Boy. But in my opinion, you should not be speed running until you've 100%'d the game, anyway. And there is at least one way that regular Meat Boy is better. Meat Boy can fall off walls easier. With Meat Ninja, you have to jump. This makes a difference if you have to go downward in a level.

Totally agree. Unlocked him before a couple of days and was kinda disappointed from the way he plays. Considering leaderboards are displayed, i would expect no limitations to the theleporting, or a larger window as suggested. He should feel like a total badass and now he just doesn't.
