Trouble with jumping

I'm running Super Meat Boy from Steam, and the length and height of my jumps seem much less than videos I've checked on youtube.

It's not be a huge issue so far, but I'm on the boss of level 3, Brownie, and there are piles of salt I can't get over with my current situation. I've tried hundreds of times, but I just can't jump far enough. The videos on youtube seem to suggest that they're not meant to be as difficult as I am finding them.

My computer isn't the best ever or anything, but I'm running Super Meat Boy on the lowest possible resolution and it's not making a difference.

Is this a standard problem? Is there any solution? I'm fairly desperate.

Do you have "-ultralowdetail -windowed" in your launch options (without quotation marks)?

If that doesn't improve your computer's performance enough, I'd recommend that you take some measures to speed up your machine like defragmenting your hard drive. Google search "how to speed up my computer" if you need more ideas on what to do or if you don't know how to defrag your HD.
