Online multiplayer? Doubtable.
You know New Super Mario Bros Wii's multiplayer and how irritating (hilarious though) it is? Yeah, imagine that multiplied by 50. Multiplayer and Platformers never will work for you very well, unless your company's name is Hal Laboratories, but really, there'll never be Super Meat Boy multiplayer.
You could try and beat other people's times, which is basically racing each other, but without your opponent being right in front of you.
Honestly, Leaderboards and a Level Creator Portal are all the online this game needs.
Also guys, don't even listen to TSP. The fact that "video games should be considered art" has blocked his mind. With a brick. And you should thank Roger Ebert for that.

Despite my username, I'm not really a Sonic fan. The name just stuck from when I was one. If I want fast action nowadays I just play Meat Boy. Or chase my cat. Sneaky little devil she is.

Online leaderboards and the upcoming custom-level portal are all the online you'll need.
Back in the day, we didn't have online games. It was just us against the stages. And dammit, we liked it.
Q F T seriously.

The only way multiplayer could work for SMB is if a whole set of levels was specially designed for it. Kinda like how Portal 2's multiplayer component is designed as a completely different campaign.
It's do-able, but doubtful, and couldn't just be added to the game.

Something like Exit Path? That would be so awesome! I keep telling you guys; Exit Path, Exit Path, Exit Path. Just imagine it with SMB's controls!

This made me think of something off topic'ish.
You guys have surely come across that growing breed of gamer that only plays Halo, COD, and Guitar Hero and is completely oblivious to all other games(I assume). Well the most fun i have had gaming in a long time is getting this completely fail breed of gamer to try Super Meat Boy in my presence.
Maybe said person only wants to play these games? You don't need to play every game or every genre, people play what they like to play. I play Halo, and I've 100%'d Super Meat Boy and play it daily =/. Why the prejudice, bro?

Ugh...Dude, you don't need multiplayer to make a game good. Multiplayer would ruin Super Meat Boy for me personnaly. And it wouldn't work. What do you imagine Multiplayer in SMB would look like? The only possible option is people racing against each other to beat levels before the other. Even if they made it so all the people on the map had to use the same character, you would have professionals going up against noobs, and it wouldn't work. How would Rocket luanchers decide who to lock onto? What about breaking panels? If you play on a level that includes breaking platforms, as soon as one person uses them everyone else playing would be left in the dust, to just give up and head towards the first sawblade they see.
This isn't Halo chucklenuts. This is Super Meat Boy. AND I LOVE IT!

I played N+ local 4 player multiplayer yesterday and survival mode would work REALLY well in super meat boy with 4 people.
