If you use an xbox controller you have the triggers as well as the X button.
I use the X button as its easier for me to control my dashes(REALLY useful in the cotton alley)
Most of my friends prefer the trigger buttons as well.

I think that the Trigger button is easier to use as you have "one finger per button"!

I use the middle of my thump to smack the jump button. I seriously just cannot use the triggers.

On the PS3 controller I used the "square" button.
Same as using the "X" button on a 360 controller.

Right Trigger. But the more I die the more I forget to let it go!

My thumb really got glued to the dash button. Had to learn to let go for some parts of the game. lol

Right trigger with Index finger. If that hurts, I swap to the middle finger on the right trigger for a short while ;P

I use the right trigger. I find it's a lot easier to "turn on and off" with that button. I think when you make the motions more binary it makes the game much easier to play, but that's just me.

I used right trigger but my index finger was starting to hurt so I had to change to the shoulder right button just above the right trigger [RB]

I mostly use the right trigger… but I'll switch to X for a few levels if RT starts getting painful.

Before the final boss, I used the button, then I found the trigger to be much easier to use.
