Also, a bit off-topic, who are the "moderators" anyway? I know that we have kyle and Orci but I've never seen anybody else

Just kyle and I so far.

EDIT : And congrats orci for your promotion :)

Thanks!

I think there should be a Forum Games/Spamming subforum that doesn't increase anyone's postcount for all of the forum games threads to be moved into.

This needs to happen, the game topics are a little out of hand. Post count spam, one word replies etc.

Or in a more simple way, forum count can be removed. Just titles stays (although they could be removed for non-moderators / non-pixel artist. One good functioning model is forum with no post count and no such titles... Just moderator can give personalised titles as a reward to the users positivly active on the board. It kinda makes flood be useless and, ikn addition, force the "titles hunter" to be respectful and involved in a positive way in the community).

I think this is a great idea, I've never understood the point of having a post count, or e-penor.

As long as a solid title system is in place, I'm ok with this. For example, one forum I've been on for a while, Bungie.net, has no measure of post count and instead uses a title system as an incentive for users to stay active. People who post regularly will slowly rise in rank while people who are inactive or people who have been banned will see their titles move at a slower rate or even drop.

I'm not sure about what these forums in particular are capable of, but at the very least I think that a system where you get titles for posting more and lose titles for getting warnings/bans could work out well. Of course, bragging about your title would result in a loss of your title :)

I definitley agree that post count is unnecessary. More posts != better posts.

I'm not sure how I feel about titles. If it's based solely on post count or activity, it only gives spammers incentive to keep spamming. If you introduce a reputation system, people will only find ways to abuse it.

I'm almost inclined to suggest removing them also. Again, a user with a lower title does not make him a less important contributor. If anything, it probably means his contributions are more meaningful. What purpose do titles serve other than to make older uses feel like they're above newer users?

I think a titles system could work if it's not a strict hierarchy of titles.
Say there's 10 tiers, but each tier has 5 possible titles, which are randomly assigned when you reach that tier.

It'd also help if the titles didn't obviously get better as your post count and activity progress, except for tier 0 of course which should stay as Fresh Meat or something

Maybe maybe...how about this brilliant idea?

Not give a damn about post counts. It means absolutely nothing and should not be discussed because it represents NOTHING. It's just a number, no need for it to do anything different than what it already does.

Well yea, I think most of us here don't really care, but it's only a matter of time before some new members start joining, and some of them will carry over the mentality that it really matters from previous forums. And that can lead to excess spamming.

It'd just be easier to hide it, at least from appearing with every post.

I don't particularly give a crap about my post count either, some people seem to get the idea I do though.

Im just a meat boy fanboy who loves talking nonstop about the game.

Looks like everybody agrees on the post count.

About titles, somebody said it makes older contributors looks superior. But it is I think something "necessary" on a board. The atmosphere on a board is usually defined in it firsts month and is mainly created by the way moderator moderate and how the older members behaves. Being able to easily spot who is old and active on the board helps to get what can be said and what not.

That was also one of the point of the personalised titles. It kinda is "rewarding" and "showing off" but gaven for good reasons. It kinda also helps by the welcome of new members because, in a more global way, the voices of "high ranked members" weight more => it is also a reason to make those titles be differently awarded than by the flood ability.

This system already began aniway : we have a "first member of the forum" and couple "pixel artists". I use to think that this is the way it should be handeled.

This all looks pretty awesome.  I'll be going through this thread sometime soon and I'll make a "first draft" of the super meat forum constitution.

If necessary at a later point, we can always make amendments
Hopes that someone gets the reason that I used Bandage Girl emote for that

It all looks awesome, except for the wording of rule 3.

You make it sound like typical spam posts are insta-bannable (stuff like replying with just a quote or the entire Random Thread thread) when what you mean is spambot advertisements and the like.

How about something like this?

Quote
RULE 3  No Spam Advertising.
This should be obvious, but any spam advertisement posts (WoW gold, Ugg Bootz, etc.) will be immediately removed with the ban hammer coming down swiftly on the offending poster.  If you make a post that is spam-like, the forum staff will assume that you are a spam bot and ban you permanently without warning. Regular spamming blah blah blah fill this in later with whatever the policy is.

Some important notes:
- In most cases you will be warned about an offense before before further action is taken.  (Unless you spam advertise, that's an insta-ban.)

Amendment to Rule 2 governing content:

Super Meat Boy is rated T, that means that there are going to be minors posting on these forums. While some language will be tolerated, there is zero tolerance for material that would not be legal for a minor to view (such as pornographic material). Yes, since this is the internet, it's not uncommon for minors to get their hands on this sort of stuff, but being held responsible for that if someone gets caught is something we don't want to happen. Note that there are no

tags, so content cannot be hidden like on other SM forums that you may have used.
