Started playing this game on PC recently and using Naija. Based on the other leaderboard times, these probably aren't new strategies, but aside from a few, there seems to be a real lack of good Naija speedrun videos (unless I just don't know where to look) for most levels so I decided to start uploading some of my own runs. Some of the individual level videos are the fastest times I know of on PC (barring obvious glitched times). If I'm blatantly wrong about any of those claims, please let me know :p All of them, including the fastest ones have noticeable room for improvement so feel free to use or improve any strategies. I'm not absolutely sure of the placement of some of these. A lot of the leaderboards have times that maaaybe look plausible (eg not 0.00 or 0.01), but the character is meat boy or kid when that seems impossible. Going to take a break to finish 100% but I'll start uploading more to that playlist afterwards. - Done! I'll be adding new runs to this list occasionally. Also, this game is absolutely amazing. Edit - List is slightly out of date. compilation of some Hell levels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVGO5UFbrzcOther levels: http://www.youtube.com/user/animatorZed#g/c/74F79F4E3BC78E82================== Some awesome Naija speedruns by other runners: Polari: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_XqPVB8C54http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AFiy5Fpj-YAlwaysSleepyGuy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTkaIj60B5ELanttu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1glJbVVQGcEmmaWatsonsBF: http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,132.0.html

Very impressive. I'm going to enjoy competing with your times as soon as I get to Hell/Rapture. I just started competitively speed running levels, so I'm still in the Hospital atm.
Btw, some of those questionable times might be legit. Occasionally the leaderboards will show Meatboy as the character used when he really wasn't. It's happened to me a few times before on a time that would be impossible with Meatboy.

Holy shit, Naija sure is fast when played right! I haven't played with her much because for some reason I don't find her physics nor flying ability much fun. Anyway, very well done and thanks for these inspiring videos, definitely forced me to change my attitude towards playing with her.

I've been considering speed running for a while, but it's very different from getting the no-death achievements. idk. sometimes I stop and speed run a level to break the monotony :-D.
Nice videos! I'll be using them as a basis to learn various Naija tricksies.

The game is about meat parkour, not standing still

I'm a Naija god, but some of these made me jealous to say the least. Sag Chamber for instance took me about 20 to 30 tries to get it just right and even then you still did it a bit faster than me. I have one request since I've been unsuccessful at pulling it off myself... in 4-7 there's a trick to go underneath the saw platforms for a faster time, however 4-7x is amazingly difficult to do this trick with. I would love to see someone actually pull this off. Closest I've gotten on 4-7x with this method is over the middle area then botched the second underpass.

Wow... Those are some amazing runs. On 4-13, you can go up right wall (past the eye) if you're quick. On 4-4X, try going under the final saw block. On 4-1X, you can fall between the first two saws. On 4-2X, don't go through the small passage--if you're moving slowly, you can slip past the saw. I think your 4-18X could actually be faster. If you're in the right spot on the final saw block, you can clear it in one dash--without touching either of the walls going back down. Also, you can just skip the overhang entirely if you don't dash immediately after you jump off the long wall--I'm not sure it's faster, but it'll give you better control over where you hit the saw block.

Thanks for the feedback :)
The Hell compilation runs are probably the least optimized (not even close to first on several), but I really appreciate the route discussion/suggestions. I'll probably try a bunch of these again since Hell is probably the most fun world for Naija overall.
roboticaust: 4-7x and 4-7 (I don't even have the fastest Naija time on this level), could both be sped up and I think the second underpass could be done one sawblade cycle earlier (in both I currently walljump at the bottom to bleed time waiting for blades to move out of the way) I'm not likely to touch these levels again though because those skips were super frustrating as it seems you know.
AlwaysSleepyGuy: 4-13 - I did not know that, awesome. The run was slow even for the route I took though. Of all levels in the video, I should have cut this one.
4-4x - I thought that should be possible looking at this one afterwards. The beginning corridors can also be sped up, I lose a little bit grazing some wall edges that might have let me skip waiting the the ball going upwards.
4-1x - Yep. The route I wanted involved jumping through that gap and dashing right after falling through. Kept hitting the moving saw when I jumped into the gap as soon as possible. You could do it without stopping if you triggered hover before falling through the gap (or I guess waiting .2 seconds in retrospect).
4-2x - This run was sloppy. I knew about going under but it was really irritating slowing down exactly enough to go under while doing it quickly. I was having enough trouble just beating that level though.
4-18x - Doing the last saw block like that would involve dashing from lower than I did. I *think* either method to do that (sliding down on the wall or waiting after hitting the overhand) would lose any time you would save. Grazing the bottom of the underhang, then dashing again is the fastest way to clear the gap. I was happy enough to just graze it instead of smacking into it for the run that I kept it. Thinking about it a bit more, it seems like it would be possible to just detach from the last wall (Naija detaches much faster than meatboy) to avoid the walljump at the end. That puts you further away though and I'm not sure its still possible to dash under/around and make it onto the platform in one dash. You could maybe do an instant turnaround to go up through the 1 tile wide hole and wall jump to bandage girl though. I got through that gap once on a much slower run but decided not to chance that as it seemed much harder.

So you were that guy that managed to finish Gurdy (3-14) in 2.80 seconds. And here was me thinking it would be impossible to get under 2.90, as my best time for Gurdy is 2.93. Those are some beautiful Naija runs and it really pushed me to get myself a gamepad soon.

I haven't watched them, only because I know what to expect. I may check out that 4-7x video though, I cannot for the life of me do that with Naija. Welcome to the "I'm amazing with Naija" club.
