Whenever I try and start up Super Meat Boy I get a fatal error saying "Could not create XAudio2 Device". I'm not sure how to fix this and any help would be appreciated.

I'd say reinstall DirectX. It sounds like an audio engine fail, and that could be due to a corrupt .dll file (I've had that happen to me on a game project once).

Only bought and downloaded the game off of Steam about an hour ago and have the exact same problem. This is the only thing nearly an hours worth of Googling has turned up.

After verifying the cache, reinstalling the game several times and reinstalling DirectX, I still get the error.

So turns out XAudio2 is an API used in DirectX and incidentally the Xbox 360. Found a DXSETUP in Steamapps>Common>SMB>Prerequisites that cured the problem.
