Team Meat,
I was browsing through old videos I had favorited on youtube and decided to take a look at
this once again, back when SMB was planned for Q1 of 2010 for Wiiware. One thing I had noticed in that teaser trailer was that there were forced autoscroll stages like those that existed in the flash game. For nostalgia's sake, I went back and played the flash game through from front to back and noticed that there were also stages that had single-direction scrolling like the original Super Mario Bros, but vertical (you can go up, but go down and you die).
My questions are as follows:
- Was there any technical reason for axing the forced autoscrolling mechanic and the single-direction scrolling or was their removal based upon preference?
- Were the twin-rows of sawblades (see: 3-12x Hellevator) and/or the rising floor/advancing wall (see: 7-13x Bleach and 1-19x Queener) spiritual successors to the forced autoscrolling and/or single-direction scrolling, respectively?
- And, last question, is there any possibility of those making a reappearance in the future or were the mechanics scrapped to never be revisited?
Thank you, in advance, for your time,
Austin "Psychopath" B.
I would be extremely grateful if someone would redirect one of them on their Twitter to this short list of questions (because I stubbornly refuse to get a Twitter, Facebook, etc account).
No, I do not care that any of you now know my first name and last initial.
