Quick introduction, I am Werner. I have always considered myself to suck playing video games. More often than not I would use cheatcodes whenever possible, and take the easier way out.
I preffer calm building games over action packed first person shooters.
What I mostly love is building things and games like Trackmania, and Mnecraft have been played for hundreds of hours. I think I actually I have played over 1000 hours in trackmania, some perhaps know me as Nebuchadnezzar from the Nation days, or Werner from Sunrise..
So basically I am saying this is one of my first platformer games. Never played Jumper, VVVVVV, IWBTG!
But I have played Meatboy, and played loads of it. I have died more times than I could think was possible. But now I am close. Really close, all I have left is 8 levels in Cotton Alley, then I have 106% the game (Right now I have 105%)
Loads of people are not like me, most people would give up around hell because of the difficulty.
I want to make levels that focus on learning certain skills.
I have been fooling around a bit with the devmode, but it always crashes with me.
My idea would be to dedicate a whole chapter into learning about a certain part of the game.
So far the chapters I have been thinking about making are.
Jumps Sawblades Rockets Fans Glowing repelers (Gravity pullers)
Each of these should be about 15-20 levels long, and include everything there is to know and learn about the theme.
For the first one I had been thinking about dividing it into 4 pieces. Jumps 4 Walljumps 4 S jumps, cant really explain these... You can easily perform one in 6-2 at the end before the key. 4 Drops 4 Complicated jumps, like the end of skyscraper 3. Beginning of The End dark world, etc. 4 4 Combination of all above 4 long levels.
SawBlades 4 Tiny blades, God grief I hate those 4 Big blades, both vertical and horizontal 4 Moving blades 4 Special levels, combination of above, including some speedy ones.
SawBlades 4 Standard seeking rockets 4 Moving rockets 4 Destroying 4 The Splitter rockets 4 Combination of above
Fans 4 Standard fan levels (These should be easy) 4 Jumps and drops 4 Moving fans 4 Combination of above
Any suggestion or ideas for levels? I already have quite a few in mind, but I am afraid if I show pictures here, people will steal my ideas :(
Also, would these be too long and boring? Focusing so long on only jumping could be boring...
I want to really try to make really easy levels, and levels where you fail you dont die. At least for the jump chapter. I want to make levels that are "hard" but once you figure out the technique, they turn really easy.

I would find them terribly boring, and to even unlock Super Meat World you need 20 bandages (they may lower that to 15 bandages/40 levels beaten like they did for teh internets) so some of the jumping levels would be useless. Some beginners may appreciate practice levels for things like fans or gravity orbs though.
Its hard to say for sure since the people who hang out around here are generally quite good at Super Meat Boy.
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas though, tons of people around here upload their stages. Its just something that you can't lose sleep over.

Yeah, i don't think i would find much interest in it too. But just for the sake of variety, i wouldn't mind see something like this on the portal.

This would be an example of a easy level, it is short. But you would need to master a certain jump perfectly to complete it. Try to make a level like this in devmode, the height between the platforms are 5 ^^ Here is another idea, just to show my idea. The idea is short levels where you must master a basic technique to complete it, not just be avreage at it, really master it. Once you do the level should be easy. This would be considered a hard short level, to master long jumps. While the first one was to master short walljumps. I could easily make these levels much harder, the problem is making them easy enough.

I'm liking this idea! Sorry to hear Devmode is crashing so much on you. I'll keep an eye on this. We do need more easy-intermediate map packs.

I totally not agree, people may use this to teach their friends/family how to play the game before actually begin it.

But... That's what forest light world is for?

But... That's what forest light world is for? For a total game n00b the forest light world is quite tricky. I watched a friend die over and over and over because they couldn't grasp the idea of holding down the a button to jump higher and longer.

I like the idea. If it would become something similar to, say, the challenge rooms in Bionic Commando Rearmed (see this video: Link) and they would have a balanced difficulty curve and a nice visual style, I would definitely play through them even if they were too easy for more experienced players.

I think Chapter 1 does a pretty good job of teaching you what you need to know for the rest of the game.
This idea could be useful if you made beginner levels for other characters, though.

Not really. There are countless people, even on the internet where the talks tend to be by big fans, who went through the entire first zone and a big portion of the 2nd before realizing that they could run. I uploaded a video of me doing it for the lulz, and the general consensus was "how is this impressive? I did it like that the first time I played. I didn't even know you could run until after the fact" Besides, this isn't a chapter for beginners to Super Meat Boy, its for beginners to videogames who might want to play Super Meat Boy.

Eh I dunno really, I felt the difficulty ramp was really good throughout the whole game(4 to 5 is the hardest but 5 is supposed to be the hardest non cotton alley chapter)

Trust me, I watched a friend of mine struggle to get to 1-8 and then hit a brick wall. He simple wasn't an old school gamer and had a hard time wrapping his head around the concept of running, wall jumping, holding a for a stronger jump, etc. Super Meat Boy is really easy to get into if you've played Mario, but he had the same problem with Mario World. He never ran, and couldn't make it over pits since he never held down the jump button.
For some people a very slow tutorial is really absolutely required.
