You created it first, but I created it without knowing that you already did. That means its not copying for me to do it

There is no content creation copyrights last I checked. Plus one of the first things you learn in a programming class is recycling functioning ideas is the backbone of the business. By all means, go for it. I'll even send you an empty 50x50 level with it already made if you like so you can see how it works and reconstruct it any way you wish.

Let's just say, it took a lot of waypoints and perfectly placed obstacle tiles to accomplish.
That sounds very interesting. Can't wait to see how it looks!

I'm still in the "dibs" thread mentality. I might take you up on that level offer, but I'm a real proponent of figuring shit out on your own. Once I get my hands on the editor I'll try it on my own and if I can't do it I'll seek out your help. Sound good? Also, since it sounds like you've been hard at work on your Naija chapter I'll probably wait for awhile so my chapter isn't overshadowed by yours. I may even wait for a Naija drought before striking depending on how well I feel i did >:)

Just a word of encouragement. You shouldn't be unmotivated by the work of others or by the possibility that your levels won't be a success. The "good taste" people so much highlight regarding the artistic look of the levels can easily destroy many otherwise great ideas. Just follow your imagination and you will be able to create unique levels and eventually find a good rhythm to the creation and a good balance for the levels.

A big part of what I'm saying is to keep myself grounded and realistic. I tend to be pretty hard on myself, but I think its good for my ego since I tend to do better than anticipated. I have zero practice with the editor so obviously I won't be able to whip up a great chapter right away. Seeing as Aquaria is my favorite indie game of all time, I really really really need to do it justice which is another reason while I'll probably put the chapter on hold for awhile and do some less important projects (I like Machinarium but I don't worship it, so I'll probably do a Josef chapter first.)

Np. I understand. Self-criticism is important and cannot be underlined too much imo. I agree that you should start with something easy and slowly build up more and more complex solutions. I think it would be good if you made a few test levels and asked for some feedback before actually starting to work on a full chapter / level set.

Yup, that's the plan. First I'll just mess around with the editor for awhile. Once I start to understand it better I'll start making single levels, and once I've got a good grasp on that maybe a mini chapter or two. By that time I'll be able to make some full fledged chapters leading up to my Naija chapter, and after that: THE WORLD!

OK good, because now I need your help... completely out of nowhere I started to get crashes every single time I load a map in dev mode. One minute I was working on a level, loading and saving, then then next I load, and every time it crashes. I saw in the Tech Support threads to try XP compatibility mode and I did that (I'm also on Win7 64-bit) but it did nothing. Thankfully I was going to bed anyway... but I will be very upset if I can't fix this quickly.

One of the biggest reasons I've been waiting on the level editor because I've lost levels a few times already. For the time being, I just save often and hope for the best.
