Sorry if this has been posted/answered somewhere before. I had a quick look but didn't find anything.

I bout Super Meat Boy off Steam about a week ago and it all seems to be working fine except for one annoying issue.

If I'm running right while sprinting (holding the shift key), I can't jump. I have to release shift before I can jump. However, if I'm running left and sprinting, it works fine. It's only while going right it doesn't work. Which happens to be the direction you seem to be running most of the time...

and as someone as impatient as me who sprints 99% of the time. It's annoying

It's probably poorly designed wiring in your keyboard preventing you from pressing those three keys at once. Edit buttonmap.cfg in the folder you installed the game to to remap your keys to something your keyboard won't get pissy at. I personally use A for special and S for jumping, but you can use whatever.

-ultralow -windowed

-ultralow, is that referring to graphics?
It's a brand new computer so I don't see how that would change anything. I have tried playing in windowed/fullscreen/different resolutions.

My keyboard can easily press multiple keys at once  it's a brand new G510 and I can press all 3 keys at once if I'm running left. It's only while running right it doesn't work.

Though I'll have another look tonight, see if changing keys does anything. Not at home atm so cna't test it.

It's not pressing three keys, it's pressing those three specific keys. It's not always the same combination from keyboard to keyboard, and it has nothing to do with wear and tear or manufacturing error. It's all about the wiring inside the keyboard, and the only thing you can do about it aside from re-mapping keys is buying a keyboard that let's you hold shift, space, and right arrow.

Also don't bother with -ultralowdetail, it has absolutely nothing to do with this. All it does is reduce lag.

Basically this. I've run into the same problem while trying to play other games and the problem seems to disappear once you swap out your keyboard for another. That, or you could just remap the controls to buttons that won't interfere with one another.

Changed the keybinds and it works, thanks.
So is that 'faulty wiring' or what ever it is something usually covered by warranty, does anyone know? Sounds like it would be.

It's not a manufacturing error, it's a flaw in the wiring's design. How many times do I have to say DESIGN before you figure this out?

The real question is will blowing on the ports fix this design problem?

I would also try reinstalling the keyboard drivers. I had some similar problems with my old G15.

Then again, spacebar as jump is useless, so definitely stick with the new keybindings.

I'm personally very pleased with the default controls.  Its nice to have a separation between the two buttons.  I always have problems remembering which one does what in other games (my fingers do, not my brain)

I like spacing them out too, but Shift and Spacebar are just not a good combination. It was murder on my wrist before I discovered I could change the key mappings. Spacebars on some keyboards can also be a lot of effort to press if you don't hit them close to the center.

That's true about space bars, but mine works fine so no problem for me there  Meat Boy.  For me the distance is good, but I'm on a laptop so the keyboard is condensed.  I can see how on other keyboards it may get a tad uncomfy.

Have you tried turning it off and then on again?
