As i read this forum, i've seen a bunch of posts dissing other characters because they arnt useful for speed runs, or not as fast as other characters.

So which do you prefer? Them to be speed run gods or fun to play as?

I personally like Commander video, he's really cool to mess around with, his glide is just so awesome. He's not useful, but it's fun as heck to play as him.

Najia doesn't look fun at all.

I prefer fun, but in Super Meat Boy going fast and flowing through the level is fun.  I'll appreciate all the "bad" characters more once they get level editor stages

Really, most of my enjoyment comes down to how good a character feels to control.

As much as I love Aquaria, Naija drives me batty because to be useful you have to have split-second twitch timing constantly. Runman can be a bit the same, too.

Meat Boy, Viridian, Spelunky, Kid and all are all fun to play because they move naturally and control with a minimum of twitchiness.

As far as pure goofing off goes, Steve is still an absolute lark.

Runman is fast AND fun to play as.

That's why my favourite characters are Bandage Girl, The Kid, Flywrench and Runman, with Viridian and Steve joining the list when I unlock them.

Coming up the list is Naija, even if her ability is a bit confusing because I don't know it's parameters.

I enjoy fun. But speedrunning a stage can be fun too, so I'm somewhat split.

Once again, why do you have to choose? Naija and Runman are clear examples of how you can have FUN and FAST.

I like pretty much all of the characters EXCEPT for our poor little Machinarium Robot who feels kind of lack luster. I can't figure out why you'd ever pick him over Ogmo or The Kid both of whom have better double jumps. Ogmo doesn't have as much vertical leap as Josef, but there is literally no reason to pick Josef over The Kid except to give yourself more of a challenge.

Also if you just like Machinarium and want to play as the star of it.  Same way I pick my characters in Smash Bros (well now I just pick random every time).

I wholeheartedly disagree - if you want to be fast with Naija you have to twitch frame-perfectly all the time.

I don't know about you but that's not much fun :(

But really, I think Meat Boy himself is a pretty good embodiment of fun and fast.

So what if i don't use meta knight, i Captain Olimar and Toon link around LIKE A BOSS.

Same principle applies on why i want to badly unlock the Pink Castle crasher. Sure, nothing amazing in terms of being fast or good, BUT YOSHI FLUTTER KICK AND BEHEMOTH SQUARE HEAD.

I agree with they guy who said Runman was both. His speed makes him super fun to play with, and that's why he is the most awesome character, imo.

Naija has the best special in my opinion and that's why I like her the best. She can float, dash ceilings, make a "U-turn" with her special or use her special the regular way. She's quite the speedrunner as well, so like runman she is good for both. Oh and her walking speed is better than most character's.

Tofu boy is extraordinary... Maybe not that fast but man, I can laugh my ass off with just watching my friend trying to finish the level with high frustration rate xD
