You don't seem to understand what i'm explaining.
1) i'm not even talking about accidental 0 times. But about using character glitches (Hominid for instance) ON PURPOSE. Yes, exactly, that's is not what hardcore gaming is, at all. A lot of gamers agree with that. And that's for me pretty obvious.
2) I'm not saying the mentioned players are not great. Some of them are great but, overall, for a non-glitcher as i am, it's IMPOSSIBLE (technically speaking) to catch their scores. Just impossible. You do not know the game that much, otherwise you'd know that glitches scores happen on several levels and, for my level, every second count and those dozens of seconds earned on glitches make a HUGE difference.
3) With all respect for you or other players, i don't complain about players (laugh). Who do you think you are ? You think you could stand with me with your times ? Check it then. I make the point that such a garbage leaderboard ruins pretty much such an excellent game to the eyes of hardcore gamers.

Glitches "fair use" isn't obvious for everyone. If a game is unbalanced, the players will always try to use it in their advantage. If there is a quickier and easier way to do something in the game, the players will do it. Besides, there is no easy way to classify which glitches are too game breaking / noskill glitches and should be forbidden to use, and which glitches should be allowed. Only the devs have the actual power to decide what they want the players to be able to do. Sure, now Alien Hominid and Pink Knight have been fixed, but until then, there was no way to guess they were ever going to be fixed. Their glitches could instead have continued to be part of the game and the "right way" for anyone who wanted to reach the top.
Again, don't focus about the damn learderboards (especially PC leaderboards besides friends lists), they have been broken from the very start and will stay that way I'm sure. Instead forget about it and post your times and videos to share with others, play live race or other events, etc.

First, comparing 360 times to Steam times is completely irrelevant, Steam has superior speed running characters. Runman. Naija. Viridian. Don't try and turn this into a pissing contest, especially since we aren't even on the same platform.
Second, I have over 290 hours on Super Meat Boy. I've gotten all Iron man runs with the exception of the hardest 4, (hell dark, rapture dark, cotton light, cotton dark). I've whittled and ground my way down to 2306 seconds without using any glitches. I know more about this game than 95% of the community, but nice try. The "hardcore crowd" for this game has completely moved on. (For the most part)

So let's see your time on The End, Cotton and the Teh Internet (Meat World) worlds for which the game forces us to play Meat Boy. Nice try too ;-)
Concerning the messed up leaderboard : that's completely my point here : it's a shame that is so trashed. If you're sure it would not change, i'm so sure that game could have been one of the best (if not the best) i ever played. Why ? Because time ranking is very important in SMB (at least for hardcore gaming).
So i do compare my points level by level, on Live or on the web. But that won't give an overall time for the 250 timed levels. The math would get too much of a work.
I would have not used Hominid for glitch that allows me to finish a level in 2,75 secondes where i normally push my time to - say - 8,91. But i do not wanna blame the players who did. That's just so fucked up.

Alas! I will gladly most my THE END times, I did not think of that, my cotton alley times are not terrible, but not good. I have much better the end times. (I'm still 3rd or 4th overall legit if you exclude all glitch / cheaters on steam)
Also Steam SMB doesn't save times on TEH INTERNETZ, we have super meat world. Nothing saves.
and I agree with JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU SAID. I just got sick of caring about leaderboards that would never be fixed. I think STEAM leaderboards still have Steve times.
Let's see...
Light: 6-1: 8.39 6-2: 21.86 6-3: 15.54 6-4: 16.38 6-5: 16.54
Dark: 6-1: 14.98 6-2: 27.06 6-3: 35.71 6-4: 24.34 6-5: 16.38
most of these are top 10, I had both #1 on steam for 6-2 for ages until 73L beat both them. he is #1 on steam with 2000 seconds, dude is nuts.

I once worked on a chapter called: Soulless!Chapter has been cancelled. Just making levels when I feel like it and have the time to do it. I cancelled the chapter due to lack of inspiration/time. Homework finally caught up to me.

I'm ranked at 442, so I have no idea where I'd be if the leaderboards weren't glitched/hacked. 90% of my runs are with Meat Boy, which also makes me want a char categorization in the leaderboard too.
That said, we need a "community leaderboard" that we can mod into the game. And to add to what you guy's were talking about concerning glitches/0.00 times/etc...let's not forget the timer itself is buggy sometimes and add any lag spikes to that and it gets worse (even on 360 the timer can be buggy).

Here it is : The End light : 6-1: 8,32 (15th) (Edit: 8,12 now and 6th place) 6-2: 22,67 (18th) (Edit: 21,74 now and 4th place) 6-3: 16,90 (53th) (Edit: 15,13 now and 3rd place) 6-4: 16,20 (12th) (Edit: 16,17 now) 6-5: 18,75 (13th) The End dark: 6-1x: 14,45 (5th) (Edit: 13,93 now and #1 ex-aequo with BruisCypher AND Choffidge !) 6-2x: 27,16 (7th) (Edit: 25,76 and WR all categories ) 6-3x: 35,75 (14th) 6-4x: 27,49 (16th) 6-5x: 17,92 (6th) (Edit : 17,85 now) I pushed my time on 6-1x and 6-2x. The End being my favorite world, i'll push all my times and that table is gonna change soon :) My time on 6-3 and 6-3 x is just a time i pulled the first time i succeeded on the route i planned, but i did not go any further. On 6-3x i'll have my score beaten soon by seconds, using another really faster route. Maze of Ith (to me one of the most difficult level to speedrun to a limit, for some technical reasons i won't explain here :p) drove me crazy. I reached the last part as fast as Kaede (Nicojull) did on his youtube video, but each time, i lost seconds with the vertically moving tiny saws. Anyway, no excuse here (just saying i'm on the way to improve my End's times), i must admit you have a better overall time !

And what i wanted to say is that i beat by a few/several seconds a lot of guys ranked top in leaderboard. i.e : AlwaysSleepyGuy. And still overal time for 310 levels is exactly that to this day :
186. Alwayssleepyguy 2336.92 310 levels 201. Ragingfranz 2559.02 310 levels
No way there's 220 sec difference overall. That's some mystery i'm trying to clarify ;-)
Anyway, you're both right saying that i should stay focus on the gaming pleasure, and i'm still having fun playing and just checking positions on each individual level.
So, there's no overall ranking on PC for the Internet worlds ?
On Xbox, we have 100 ranked levels (5 worlds), in which "only" the 50 first positions are improbable (guys with more than 100 levels completed). So the real first one is 51th and i'm 57th, which is not bad.

Only worlds 1 to 7 light/dark of the PC version have leaderboards and a visual clue (red level tile) which indicates whether a level has been cleared before.

Correct, we just got a terribad Super Meat World with no ranking / saving / broken features.
Pretty nice times too, I remember when I did my 6-4x speed running, took a good amount of time just to get 24, I think Keade has 22 something. Also I've never been happy with my 6-5's, I know 15 is possible, just never managed it personally.
I haven't taken cotton alley speed running to such an extreme as most of the other worlds, that is where I could probably cut more time.
You make a good point with such a big time gap, especially if you KNOW you have the best route down for every level.

I don't care for your leaderboard times or mine. In fact, I don't even save my savegames, I just delete them every time. I only care for speedrunning the any% run of the game and am not interested in the broken leaderboards, nor will I ever be. The only reason why I'm even bothering with this is because you're being completely childish about this for no good reason. Yes, you make a few points, yes, there are many glitches in the game. Everybody on this forum probably knows this. What's the problem? The main game is still great for me and the normal levels I play don't lag or crash for me anymore. (Yes SMW is terrible, but that could be expected.) The fact that you can't show off your so-called "high level" times on the internet is just...ugh. You should be able to see what's wrong with this. There are more interesting things in life than bragging about a video game. tl:dr version that will spawn stupid reactions: If you care so much about precision second times to brag with, then this is not the game for you. Stop whining.

I agree about the fact SMB is a great game. And that's why i talk about it :-) However i feel like you're a little rough with me ;-) I'm trying, here or there, to create some constructive debate. I'm sorry if i hurted your feelings (i'm sometimes a bit harsh myself!). I think that talking about negative points about a game we dig is as much positive as talking about positive sides. I'm kinda a perfectionist person. Who has the great wants the best ;-)

Great The End times guys. I haven't even begun to attempt to speedrun The End yet, so these will sort of be the rabbit I'm chasing.
As for the Cotton Alley, for me it depends on the level, some I've got decent scores in and some I haven't really tried. But none of them except for Lead Sheets I'm satisfied with or can't improve.

Hello Jintek. Are you XBLA or PC player ? If you play on Xbox, i'd be glad to add you as friend ! You know, speedrunning (meaning playing levels hundreds of times) is kinda crazy, for really passionnated people :p I have friends who played SMB, who liked it a lot but who were just happy to beat the game and basta ! if you like to speedrun though, i'll be glad to help !
