Last time I checked, Alien Hominid was in the XBLA version as well, so that's not exclusivity.

Note that I am also comparing to the D2D version, which does not have the Headcrab.

But note that they are not.  They're saying the ultra edition is the same thing as the steam version but with Alien Hominid.

And they obviously meant that Alien Hominid on PC was exclusive to the Ultra Edition.

I read on Team Meat's Twitter that AH was one of the few that were not under an exclusivity contract (with the original characters, Commander Video, Jill, Ogmo, Flywrench, and The Kid being obvious exceptions).

This is where I am basing my statements.

Shit now I'm even more confused.  How does the fact that Alien Hominid doesn't have an exclusivity contract relate to the idea that he's replacing Headcrab?  I think you've totally lost me here

He's the only one that isn't exclusive to Microsoft.  Naija, Runman, Gooball, Viridian, and Steve (obviously) aren't exclusive to Steam.  Headcrab is exclusive to steam.  This much is already known.  The only bit of information we don't know is how Hominid will be implemented.  He is either the replacement for Headcrab, or a brand new additional character.  The quote I shared implies that Ultra is Steam + Alien, so it may end up being the ultimate version of SMB.  For now all we can do is wait though.  

Also the retail version will have the editor Tunnels.
