Alright...

Meat Boy = Got it!
= Got it with some problems
= I'm attempting this at the moment
= I'll try this once I've done some of the easier ones
= I might try this once I've done some of the more difficult ones
= Never gonna happen

                       Forest / Hospital / Factory / Hell / Rapture / The End / Cotton Alley
Light World:      Meat Boy    /          /         /    /         /           /
 Dark World:          /          /         /    /         /           /

I will freely admit that I'm no SMB god or anything. I got Needle Boy on pure luck. Squirrel Boy shouldn't be too problematic, but the other ones... yeesh.

4-16x is actually one of the easiest levels to do constently with Meat Boy. It just takes some practice. 4-17x however, I still managed to screw up a lot no matter how many times I did it.

Any idea about a safe way to beat 7-16? Yeah, the one with the gravitational orb. I manage how the orb works, but, you know, even with it its too random for me.

In other good news, when you find the way to defeat every Cotton Alley level, its not too hard to beat the levels. I think that Maggot Boy (Dark factory) could be the 3º most hard world to beat without a single level.

I'll try to describe this... basically you jump onto the orb, get yourself centered and balanced (not going too high up or down), then as you are getting close to the saw that is on about the same level as you, you slowly move to the left until you start to dip down, if you do it right, you will dip below the saw. At this point, you slowly move back to the right to get back to the balanced state you were in before, you'll be more bouncy at this point and just want to try to stay in the center again to rebalance yourself, before repeating the process and dipping below the next saw which is in your way. It's also possible to do it in a different way where you intentionally keep yourself less balanced and "jump over" the oncoming saws but I find that much harder to control and you also run the risk of going too high and having the gravity ball unable to "catch you" as you land.

Sorry, kind of a difficult thing to explain but I hope this was at least slightly helpful. Also I think you're talking about Missile Boy (Dark Factory), Maggot Boy is Light Rapture, but yes, Missile Boy is quite challenging and is actually the run I am working on at the moment.

Fuck Demon Boy, just fuck it. Chapter 4 dark world makes me rage so much so quickly it's ridiculous. I have about 5x less patience with the BS in these levels than I did with Missile Boy. At least with Missile Boy I didn't have to spend 10 minutes just trying to beat GOD DAMN IMPERIAL before having the privilege to be killed on one of the demon maw levels. And to top it off, if there wasn't enough stupid crap in these levels, there's the random dying on a platform or glitchy hit detection. My PC runs this game perfectly fine before anyone asks.

Right now I'm seriously considering just skipping Demon Boy completely, trying Zombie Boy, finding out that it's way out of my league, then quitting on the iron boy runs for good.

My Girl Boy run, 7-16 is 7th or 8th level there (2:00). There are 2 keys to master this level:

1) you have to realize that you can 'float' below and over saws
2) practice :P and getting good 'feeling' of repulsor

BRAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS!

ZOMBIE BOY - MEAT BOY ONLY - GET!!

Aaaand... Of course I got it done before I could figure out how to record without inducing lag... barf.  Anyways, here's my run order :-D

========================

The Toughies

I HAD to do 5-10x and 5-11x first.  This is mostly due to the funny mechanics behind the abominations.  The length that causes their attraction is extremely and random.  They are easy when everything goes my way, but otherwise, bleh.

5-2x:  When crossing the second gravity orb as meat boy, you stand at the back of the wall and get a full sprint before jumping.  But just doing that would get you killed.  In the middle of the jump, you have to move the control stick left then right to control your trajectory.  Learning the timing is trial and error.

5-5x: Racing the blocks isn't that bad, but the jumps to hit the button at the end of the level and to subsequently get over the saws are kinda precise, so I put this near the beginning.

5-8x: There's a small slip between two saws that is kinda tough.  Hence the beginning position.  I also walk the last part for accuracy's sake.

5-13x: I'm sorta bad at the three close platform jumps (the ones that are over your head as you wait for them to appear).

5-15x: Sometimes I would do this earlier, since it was annoying.  But it's also quick.  I permitted a reset here if one of the maggots glitched (those that play this level a lot know which one I'm talking about).

5-17x: The missiles in the corridors are sorta hard to manipulate sometimes, so I put this here.

5-9x: I put this here even though it has abominations in it.  That's because it also has missile launchers in it.  My method?  I kill.  All.  Of.  Them.  *HATE*.

========================

All the rest.  I consider them free.  I have a few tricks though.

5-14x: After you do the first drop, you can jump up the wall and skip the key-getting process all together.

5-16x: You can start the level and run left.  Hit the wall and wall jump instantly.  You'll get over the gravity orb.  Sneak down to just before you'd fall... slide down that wall and hold right and you'll touch down where you need to.  Once you clear the saws you can wall jump up into the corridor that leads to bandage girl, skipping a lot of troublesome parts along the way.

========================

And that's it!  At least... for the iron man runs that give you a character choice.  :-D.

Girl Boy and Impossible Boy remain

Until then!

This annoyed me enough on my A+ run, let alone trying an Iron Boy run. I cursed that maggot.

Blood Clot Boy has been spanking me for almost 2 hours now. The most levels I have without dying right now is either 12 or 13. Whenever I seem to have a level down like pat, I always mess up at a new place I didn't before! It's very fustrating.

Grey Matter (12) has to be the most annoying one. Once I seem to have the timing memorized, I always mess up somewhere new. Some of my other problem levels include Buzzzzzcut (3), and Spineless (11). Buzzzcut is first in my current list, in case you were wondering.

Good thing a lot of Dark Hospital levels can be broken with Viridan, or I'd have this problem a lot more often.

Question: Say you start at the hardest level in the run, and die a few times without returning to the map each time before managing to complete it, and then you move on to the other levels and complete them flawlessly without dying. Do you still earn the achievement? Or do you have to return to the map every time you die in order for it to register that first level?

You do not have to return to the map when you die.

There should seriously be some kind of FAQ about that :P So let's recap -

1) you don't have to do levels in 1 - 20 order

2) you can die at first level as many times as you want (and if you pass it you must pass the rest with no deaths ofkz)

3) if chapter allows you - you can change characters during run (excluding meat ninja and steve)

4) and here's the best (or worst) thing - if you're about to die, you can press Esc, go back to map and try the level again

This is exactly where I was like two weeks ago. Now you understand my frustration.

The difference in difficulty between Missile Boy and Demon Boy is unbelievable. With Missile Boy, there were like 5 or 6 levels that were really hard and then once they were done it was just a matter of doing the rest by the book. Demon Boy is the opposite. There were only 5 or 6 levels I could do consistently every time, and the rest required an absolutely flawless run. Sure, you could cheat and use Viridian to break half the levels, but where's the challenge in that?

I was so burnt out after Demon Boy that I had to put the game down for a few days. I haven't even attempted Zombie yet.

I hope you're not serious. Even with Viridian I still consider Demon Boy to be harder than Missile Boy. The difficulty of the breakable levels is made up for in the unbreakable levels.
