Took quite a bit more time and practice than any of the previous runs, but I was able to knock off Missile Boy earlier. I distinctly remember thinking, after completing CH3 Dark the first time (now that seems like ages ago...), that this achievement would "definitely be impossible and not one I would be trying," so to complete it feels great. It was definitely a new level of difficulty compared to the previous ones I have done, and I suppose the numbers back that up with it being one of the 5 SMB achievements which only 0.1% of people on Steam have unlocked (others being Demon, Zombie, Girl, and Impossible, which go figure, are the only ones I have remaining now).

Well I think this will probably be my last little victory dance for a while, it's nice to hit that 90 percentile on the achievements, and I still love the game but I think I need a break from no-death runs, and hopefully SMW is right around the corner to give us something else to do with this game soon. I will be giving Demon Boy a look eventually, the others... we'll just have to see how I'm feeling later on I guess.

Yep, after Missile Boy, the best you can do is relax and forget the game some days / weeks.

Even right now, Im thinking that maybe Missile Boy is harder than Girl Boy. Not kidding.

You must be really mad that Steam didn't register the achievements:

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198035396528/stats/SuperMeatBoy

Not my "main" account, note that SMB is the ONLY game listed...  I've got over 50 games on my main account.  What happened there was I bought 6 copies of SMB off Steam (Xmas sale) and gave 4 away, and I could never get in contact w/ my last buddy I was gonna give it to...so I started up another account under my "new nick" and began playing through it again.  It kind of worked out in a weird way though because that account is basically my "laptop account".

I can tell you right now though, I won't be attempting to get Girl Boy/Zombie/Missile/Dead/ ever again.  I'm still convinced half of it was pure luck, and not really very rewarding in retrospect.  Demon Boy will be my last iron man I try for, and that has been elusive so far, and I'll probably give up  .

So you're missing Dead Boy... I didn't find that one hard at all. Just do Omega, then the other levels.

It has a 0.5% completion percentile. It's not that bad!

^You don't understand man, I get way too angry at this game sometimes.  I just have to admit it to myself and be responsible and not attempt those runs again.  For my safety and those around me!

You know what would be awesome? If someone got Zombie Boy using every character in the game. It's the hardest achievement where you can use "Meat Boy & Friends", and there are legitimate uses for characters like Flywrench, Runman, Commander Video, and even Josef. Only problem is there are two characters I can't see a single use for: Headcrab and Ogmo.

Personally, the few times I've attempted to use Headcrab he/I was atrocious.  I can't think of any level in the game where I'd rather use Headcrab vs. Meat Boy.  Ogmo is a good stand in for Kid, espesh w/ some bandages.  But yeah, that idea would be neat, too much skill for my blood though.

He's actually good for Zombie Boy, believe it or not.  You can walk on the ceiling to avoid the annoying glitchyness that comes with the abomination levels (uhm.  5-9x and 5-10x if I remember right).

Sounds about right, never thought of it myself...  If I ever do attempt to unlock Zombie Boy again on my laptop I'll give that a try.  So far though Demon Boy still eludes me.  But I'll look through your review and see if that helps.

BTW, you actually forgot Impossible Boy.

That was... like, the easiest one to figure out, wasn't it?

But still, you do get Brownie Points (heh heh) for mentioning Puberty.

...And what were you actually mentioning in the GIF? I've never seen that show before...

That's because for me, Impossible Boy IS impossible!  And the movie is "Death To Smoochy", greatest film ever.  The night I first saw it I was on a load of mushrooms, never laughed so hard in my life.

Wow, something quite strange just happened. I was screwing around after seeing a video that shows you can use the Kid's double jump to make the 1-block high saw jumps easier, and I ended up going from 5-5X (Nix) through 5-13X (Halo of Flies) without dying. I wasn't even being serious, I was just messing around and beat almost half the levels in one go. Holy hell. One day, Zombie Boy. I'm comin' for ya. *shakes fist*

Amazing what you can do when you aren't feeling the pressure. I think channeling that peaceful, confident, centered feeling as you progress and "not thinking" is probably one of the biggest tricks to completing these runs. I'll be the first to admit that in some cases I haven't been great at that (R-R-R-RAGE MODE-ODE-ODE!!) but especially recently after completing Missile Boy I feel like I'm getting better at just staying even keel the whole run and trying to learn something when a death does occur.

GIRL BOY --BANDAGE GIRL ONLY-- GET!!

Oh wait.  You're only allowed to use Bandage Girl... I'm too used to the idea that using one character is unique!  Oh well.  Here's how I did it!

7-7 - THE FANS.  Enough said.  I increased my probability of success by approaching the first fan at a walk and pressing the run button to start moving when I thought I had just enough speed to miss both middle saws... but it was mostly intuition.  I reset this level so many times in mid-flight, but I did it on my first try in the run, so I'm happy about that :-D.

7-16 - F***ING HOPSCOTCH.  I have no real advice for this level.  It's so early in my run because I'm absolutely terrible at this level.  If anyone has any 'tips' that'd be cool.  But I'm pretty much going to get a halfway decent speed run time and forget this level ever existed.  Ever.

7-19 - It's levels like this and the next one that prompted me to vote the way I did in the "most hated obstacle" poll.  Small corridor saws >> Demon Maws.  I beefed it on the last saw so many times :-/.

7-20 - Two reasons I put this early.  First, I would not have the composure for such a long level if it were near the end of the run.  Second, SMALL CORRIDOR SAWS.  They make me shout many four letter words (har har).

7-15 - This is why I think Demon Maws are a pushover.  This was, for about 15 minutes, one of my major concerns for this run.  Until I completely TRIVIALIZED the level.  The start is important.  Jump right and wall jump just after you touch the key (don't touch the floor).  Wall jump two more times (three total) and on the last one hold left.  You'll slide down the wall and avoid the first Demon Maw.  Tap left again to get on the platform with the key.  Jump right, touch the wall and IMMEDIATELY jump left.  The Demon Maw on the right will slam into it's little niche.  Idiot.  Wall jump on the left wall twice and move to the right wall.  Slide down into the right Maw's niche.  It will slam into it's own wall just before you get there.  Dumb ***.  Grab the key and immediately jump left.  The top AND the bottom Demon Maws will slam into their respective walls.  Ha ha ha.  Jump right and wall jump into the second section.

Keep close-ish to the left wall when starting the second section.  Hit the ground and run to the key.  The Demon Maw will shoot over your head and hit the locks.  Grab the key and jump over the mini-maw.  Get to the left wall ASAP.  If you go fast enough, the spawner won't "see" you right away.  Slide down and tap left at the opening to DI into the key.  Run across the keys as they disappear.  If you time it right, the Demon Maw will slam into the locks and you'll fall through the unlocking locks before the mini maw gets you.  Repeat this process again (slide down the wall, get the key, walk along the locks and drop to avoid the mini maw).  When you've unlocked the last line, you'll drop and hit the wall to avoid the mini maw.  Wall jump to get to Meat Boy.

I may try to make a video of this later.

7-5 - I just didn't like doing this level in the later parts of the run.  It gets very difficult if you're nervous.

7-2 - The timing required to not get hit when transitioning between the top and bottom corridors was kinda funky.  So I put this early on.

7-10 - There are a bunch of keys here, but it's symmetrical so you only have to accomplish three tasks.  Getting a low key: I ran from the middle cover all the way to the wall and slid up past the disintegrating blocks.  Both missiles will miss.  Go into the corridor and grab the key.  Run back to cover (when in cover DO NOT touch the back wall, you'll have gone to far and a missile can hit you).  Getting a high key: run from under cover and jump so that you wall jump twice to get to the high key.  Grab it without touching the back wall and short hop out.  I liked adding the short hop, it raises the missile trajectory just a bit before you drop down to cover.  Escaping: run out of cover on the right to attract the fire of two missiles then run left.  Wall jump once on the bottom wall, TWICE on the middle wall and on the second wall jump move to the top middle platform.  IMMEDIATELY jump to avoid the incoming missile, get meat boy.

7-11 - This one is easy.  I like to get four missile shots in before jumping is required.  I make the first two jumps while still progressing forward.  Then when jumping over the saws, I alternate dodges - missile hits behind me, then one in front of me.  This pattern repeats three times.  If done right, dodging the dropping saws is easy.  A video may be required here to explain better.

7-17 - I found a really easy path, but there's no way I'm getting the point across in text.  Maybe a video to come?  I have to figure out how to get good videos going :-/.  Maybe replays will record easier than playing in real time.

=======

And that's it.  All the other levels were easy.  I think this was a little easier than doing Meat Boy only Zombie Boy.  And as per usual for my "investigation run" of the next achievement in line... Impossible Boy does indeed look... impossible!

One down, one more to go!
