I can bet, that you will get Girl Boy before level editor release if you'll start practicing from tomorrow or monday.

Can I make a joke about the editor release date?

Well, you know, I get almost every iron boy run, except dark rapture & dark cotton alley. I have enough. Well, I know, its just 40 levels and I will get all the achievements, but its too much time and suffer for a few achievements...

 Meat Boy - Got it!
  - Nope.avi
  - This is going to be painful...

Forest / Hospital / Factory / Hell / Rapture / The End / Cotton Alley
Meat Boy   /   Meat Boy   /   Meat Boy   /    Meat Boy    /    Meat Boy     /    Meat Boy    /
   Meat Boy   /   Meat Boy   /   Meat Boy   /        /         /    Meat Boy    /

Working on Dark Hell. I hate those fireball things. Well, thank god for Viridian and The Kid. (I just last week found out The Kid can beat 4-3x, so yay!)

And if you'll try to get Girl Boy, you'll soon realize, that it's much easier than Missle/Demon Boy (well, Cotton Alley for sure, Zombie is most anoying to get imo :))

No matter how many times I watch Girl Boy runs, I have a hard time believing this. I die endlessly on Tunnel Blower alone, then having to do levels like Four Letter Word, Train Eater, Pepto, Hopscotch, etc. after that...I don't see how it could possibly be easier than Missile/Demon Boy. Is this assuming Meat Boy only?

4-3x is Char, right? Why would you not use Viridian there?

The last jump on Char (Or it's Light World Counterpart) is somewhat tricky to pull off using Viridian. Even if you can get it down more consistently, I still find it a bit too risky for a no-death run.

Man, Brimstone Boy is turning out tougher than I expected. My run will probably be segmented quite a bit, mostly due to some bunches of levels being easy to die on. The last 5 levels in particular are pretty hard (Friggin' Demon Maws! ), but there are also some other troubling ones I have trouble on, like Heck Hole and Pyro.

Any sort of advice for this next run would, as always, be greatly appreciated.

This sir, is a bullshit.

This of course, is completely correct, and I was largely joking when I said that because yes, even at this very moment, I am visualizing myself attempting Girl Boy. I believe Girl Boy would be easier than Zombie Boy, even though you can change characters in Dark Rapture, there are some mean, mean levels in that chapter. Impossible Boy, well, if I got Girl Boy, I can see myself trying it.

However I think the biggest reason why I do not want to try any more no death runs at the moment is because once I start pursuing one it becomes very consuming for me and I want to take at least a little break from that feeling, maybe play some of the umpeteen untouched games I have, etc. So I figure I'll wait for the editor/portal, play through Cramps and Expert Remix (can you switch characters in these btw?) once we finally can on PC, then we just might be looking at starting Girl Boy runs.

Regarding Char, I just used Meat Boy for it, and it was always early in my run. I remember using Viridian for the Light version of it but found that he didn't work as well for Char... now I'm suddenly wondering if I overlooked something (it was the last part with the jump through the saws that he wasn't so good at... now I remember...). Viridian was great for a number of the other levels such as Sag Chamber and Long Goodbye though.

but there are also some other troubling ones I have trouble on, like Heck Hole and Pyro

Viridian annihilates Heck Hole, though you have to make a slightly tricky wall jump at the very end (do it early in the run if this is an issue) otherwise just make sure you get off to a quick start with Meat Boy and glide up the walls as much as you can on each jump before making your next jump - this is even more important on it's dark counterpart Char. For Pyro, at the end, you want to jump and basically follow after the fireball that shoots towards the right at the end, I'm going to assume that was the part you didn't like, I recall it annoying me for a bit too.

I had problems doing the light world version as Viridian (ended up using Meat Boy instead), but the dark world version's pretty easy with him.

hahaha oh man, having done this achievement today seeing that makes me laugh... you're right, Char is easier with Viridian than Heck Hole was, and here I was doing it with Meat Boy... mind you I got damn good at it but still... seeing how many other levels I used Viridian on, to not use him on that level seems kinda hilarious and wrong now.

Edit: Invocation with Viridian was interesting as well... still fairly easy with the Kid but using Viridian there never occurred to me, also, Naija in Bone Yard, I do remember trying her there but feeling like I wasn't getting any consistency with it.

Wow, i kinda ignored this thread so far and i remember saying before that Wood Boy would be as far as i can get with the iron runs. Thanks to the portal's delay, i decided to give them a try and here i am now, missing "only" the following boys: Missile, Demon, Zombie, DrFetus, Girl, Impossible.

My strategy wasn't exactly unique and probably it's been said already in here a few times, but i just want to take it out of me...
The chars that mostly helped me were the Kid and Viridian, who could break some levels like there is no tomorrow. Also, careful planning to find the ideal character for each level, while writing down a tracklist with the order i was gonna play them, starting from the toughest ones.

The remaining runs frustrate me for a lot of reasons, so i'm not sure when/if i'm gonna bother with them.

Hell/Rapture dark worlds are too much hard. Remember the 5-18x.

5-18x is way easier than 5-18.

In 5-18x you just wall jump off the right platform then the left platform, grab the key, then run down to the bottom left and you can just sit there and the blades wont get you, a bandage is there as well.  But if you want the A+ then you have to stay up top on either of the two platforms and just jump to avoid the bullets, but be weary of the bullet shooter on top that shoots a single diagnal shot at your face once your almost done.

Sry for double post if that happened.  If not ok.

Forest / Hospital / Factory / Hell / Rapture / The End / Cotton Alley
Light World:       Meat Boy    /      Meat Boy     /     Meat Boy    /    /          /     Meat Boy     /
 Dark World:      Meat Boy    /     Meat Boy     /          /     /         /            /

Why is Rapture so hard?!  I say the F word atleast 89 times before its over.

Having accomplished Wood, Needle and Salt Boy, I've been working on Squirrel Boy (I'm close to pulling it off) in between attempts at The Kid (nowhere close, I can't even get up the second shaft on the first stage). I don't think I'll ever even attempt either version of Hell... not because of the skill involved or the challenge but because my game FREQUENTLY glitches on those horizontally moving platforms - the random death when passing under a low ceiling glitch - which adds a completely unfair element to the whole thing. So unless either I find a workaround that fixes that, or Team Meat finds a way to patch that away, I'll never bother.

The others may be harder, but at least they are fair.

the random death when passing under a low ceiling glitch

Oh god, that ended at least 2 of my Demon Boy runs, I was starting to dread those moving platforms, although I found that if you can avoid moving side to side on those platforms as it passes under the low ceiling, you'll be fine. The most common time for this to occur is probably on 4-20X (early in the run, thankfully) right at the start when you jump through the saws and land on the platform right as it goes under the low ceiling, I probably did it 3 times in a row once, almost on purpose, and at that point I had to laugh rather than cry  .

But like I said, you can mostly avoid it, or at least... it felt like I could.

This happened to me on a number of occasions when first trying Hell, like on Boris, and Boris was the last Light World (non-Cotton Alley) level I beat.

It mosly seemed to happen with tall characters, like Flywrench. Most of the smaller characters, like Meat Boy, Ogmo, and suprisingly, Jill, were unaffected. Jill seemed to work the best while trying Boris, because

BRIMSTONE BOY TIP:

If you wait approx. 8-10 seconds after the level starts, you can actually use Jill's air-brakes to glide down to the moving platform, and only have to dodge the Demon Maws once before going into the slot. You can then do the last 2 buzzsaw shafts glitch-free. Meat Boy

Okay now, I'm kinda OCD on doing Iron Boy runs, so I'm not doing any more until Potato Boy is replaced with Meat Boy again. Unfortunately, the Level Editor will be out by then. Yelp.

If you mean Boris you can just use The Kid and there's no need to use the moving platform.
