So ill get the big news out of the way.

SUPER MEAT BOY WON BEST OF SHOW AT PAX!

Now when we got the nominations from Destructiod and Machinima we were totally floored by it, but never in our wildest dreams did we think there was any way to win seeing as we were going up with Mortal Kombat, Portal 2 and Duke Nukem Forever.

Its a huge honor to win this, it feels very validating and at this point of dev this is something that was very very welcomed.

We want to thank dtiod, the fans and especially thank Danny B and Jordan Fehr. Danny and Jordan held the fort at Pax and really killed it for us, they are amazing talents but all of you will hear that first hand very soon.

There was a rumor going around that people were switching over the game demos at the MS booth to super meat boy. Turns out that this was actually true and confirmed by MS, people at pax were switching off the other Game Feast games to play SMB because the wait to play it was so long. MS reps actually had to delete SMB off all the other demo kiosks to prevent this.... awesome.

So yeah, Pax went very very well.

UPDATE: Warning, this video has spoilers! not only does it show the final character select but it also shows the ch2 boss fight with animated ending.



Note that the locked characters in the char select are only half of the playable characters you find through the game. the other half will be found in warp zones.

Status update 2, Code complete!

So im writing this status update while i export the games final cut scene, which takes about 15 min due to its size.

Im please to announce that after 15 consecutive 14 hour days, we have successfully passed Alpha, and the game is now code complete.

Next step is content complete, meaning all content (bosses, music, levels, cut scenes, characters, etc) are in place and ready to be heavily tested and polished. We hope to hit content complete in the next week, this will of course mean the continuation of this hellish schedule we have bee going through.

Sleep is for pussies.

Here's a quick shot of the final world map showing chapter 1, along with a mini map giving you an idea of what's to come. A ton has been added to the game since march, and there's a lot we have kept very tight lipped about so the surprise isn't ruined. I doubt even the biggest meat boy fan has any idea what's in store for them. (those lines are "safe zones" its to make sure important info doesn't get cut off on your tv)

If all goes well we should have a release date to announce by Pax, were we will also be demoing the 1st 3 chapters in their final forms.

PS: those of you confused by the Steam announcement, the Steam version will come out one month after the Xbla version, and yes it will include achievements.

The video of my beard making a Wario DIY game is finally up!

I have to make a public apology to NOA for making it almost impossible to cut an solid video here i didnt come off as a total ass. i cant act, so 99% of the footage was improvised nonsense and probably not appropriate to show by Nintendo's standards.

You guys did an amazing job at cutting together the parts that worked :)

Wario DIY is almost as awesome as that beard...
i should regrow it.

That wasn't me, but I would relish the opportunity. I guess the next question is will the PC version have the added content of the Xbox version? The main issue for the Wii version is the size cap, not hardware power, right?

So we put up 15 new screen shots of the most current build last night, you can view them HERE.

The shots show off new chapter 3 levels (the Salt Factory) as well as new warp zone image. If you look closely you can find a reference to another indie game where you run, jump and die somewhere in there.

So even though we are still picking up the pieces from GDC (fighting off illness, drunk drivers and Apple representatives) but i did find this awesome interview we did while we were there.



The gameplay footage is quite old, so ignore that.

SMB rocks GDC!

Ok, Back from GDC that was held in the beautiful San Francisco! the only place where you can eat a gourmet cupcake while watching a bum take a shit in front of you on the sidewalk at the same time.

We got to do our first public showing of Super Meat Boy there at the IGF pavilion. Those of you who went got a complementary copy of issue 2 of the SMB comic, those who didn't will eventually be able to purchase your own on our etsy or win one via our twitter contest's.

Seeing as this post signify's the launch of our new and official SMB website (thanks Kyle) im going to do a little update on the recent Meat Boy news.


-Super Meat Boy is coming to Xbox Live Arcade in later summer (as well as Wiiware and Pc)!!!
